Zika Vius

The outbreak of ZIKV in the Americas continues to spread. Information on affected countries is available on the Public Health england website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/zika-virus

If you are pregnant and have recently travelled to a country where there is active ZIKV transmission please inform you midwife and GP.

Seasonal Influenza

Again its time to protect your self in readiness for the winter period, the practice are in the process of sending out invite letters for the seasonal influenza immunisation.

All over 65 years

Those under 65 and at Risk including those patients with a BMI of 40+

All 2, 3 and 4 year olds for the Nasal Flu immunisation,  

Child Nasal Flu

We have now taken stock of the childhood nasal flu immunisation please call the practice to make an appointment. Foer all 2,3 and 4 year olds and those under 17 at Risk.

Shingles

Shingles is a debilitating condition, which occurs more frequently and tends to be more severe in older people.
It is estimated that around 250,000 people are affected in England and Wales each year including 30,000 people in their 70s.
We are now offering routine shingles vaccinations (called Zostavax) to patients:
Born between 2nd September 1935 to 1st September 1937 and
Born between 2nd September 1942 to 1st September 1945
The shingles (Zostavax) can be given as a single vaccine or at the same time as the flu and pneumococcal vaccinations where relevant and we are giving the vaccine in our Flu Clinics
To book an appointment please telephone the surgery, but please remember that we are only allowed to give the shingles vaccine to patients in the relevant age groups.
